When I was 9, there wasn’t a girls’ team for me to join. I played in the park and the playground with the boys because that was my only option, even though I loved the game as much as they did (probably more).

Back then, girls’ football wasn’t visible. There were no role models on TV, no women’s matches to go to, and no one telling us that football belonged to us too. In fact, it was the opposite: I was considered odd for playing.

Fast-forward a few decades and I’m at Wembley Stadium watching England v Germany women, November 2019. A record crowd, flags everywhere, the Lionesses walking out to a roar that gave me goosebumps.

And in the middle of all that noise, one thought hit me:

How did we get here?

Because when I was that football-mad 9-year-old, this world didn’t exist.

That moment at Wembley planted the seed for She’s Kicking It.

I wanted to create something that would help the next generation of girls grow up feeling seen, inspired, and proud to play.

Every box celebrates what I wish I’d had back then — confidence, visibility, and the belief that girls belonged on the pitch.

Because football is her game too.
